Broome County Health Department Highlights Lead Poisoning Risk
Thursday, February 25, 2016 10:48 PM EST
The Broome County Health Department is addressing the risk of lead poisoning.
The group warns that lead paint is toxic to your family and should only be handled by a certified professional. The risk of lead poisoning is greatest for young children and pregnant women.
High levels of lead in a child's blood can lead to serious health issues.
Health Department officials say they want to work with local contractors and property owners to eliminate lead hazards.
