Area Contractors Arrested for Grand Larceny

By FOX 40 Staff.
The owners of Chris White Improvements have been arrested for felony Grand Larceny.

The Broome County District Attorney's Office today arrested Irene A. White, 28, and Christopher E. White, 45, owners of Chris White Home Improvements. Both are being charged with Grand Larceny in the third degree.

It is alleged Irene A. White and Christopher E. White, between October 2014 and October 2015, accepted $44,683.11 for a contract while working under Chris White Home Improvements. They failed to complete the contract or return the money to the victim.

The arrests were made by the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Broome County District Attorney’s Office.

White and White were arraigned today in Village of Endicott Court and released pending further court action.

“While the vast majority of local contractors are honest businessmen, there are dishonest scam artists out there – these individuals will be caught and prosecuted,” said District Attorney Steve Cornwell. “Homeowners should be cautious of providing large down payments for projects. Contractors may not use any down payment money for any purpose other than providing materials or labor.”
