Bearcats depth shows improvement in win over UMass Lowell

In the preseason Bearcats Head Coach Tommy Dempsey said that he thinks this team could average four to five guys in double figures. So far this season, only Willie Rodriguez (14.7 ppg) has reached that mark but Marlon Beck (9.8) and Everson Davis (9.5) are close. But in Saturday's 81-77 win over UMass Lowell five Bearcats scored in double digits with 32 points coming off the bench.

"We're playing February basketball," said Beck. "It's late in the season so we're picking up our tempo on both ends so if everyone can get involved like that it just makes us an entirely better team if it's not just one or two players scoring well. If everyone can get involved we'll be an even better team."

"It was nice because it was a night where we didn't have a great performances from Willie or Marlon," said Dempsey. "I think that was something our bench, I can't remember, I think put up something like 38 points. We've been practicing well, our second team has been really competitive in practice and that stuff is just kind of taking on a life of its own on the court. Those guys are playing well when they get in there."

BU travels to UMBC on Wednesday.
