A Local Hospital Works To Raise Awareness on Concussions
It is a topic that has brought about a lot of talk in recent years -- concussions. On Thursday, Lourdes Hospital hosted a concussion awareness seminar.
The event featured a panel of experts who educated the audience on this potentially dangerous brain injury. One expert tells us that we must view concussions as a serious health issue, but not panic.
Physical Therapist Kristen Mooney said, "Concussion really is hot button issue right now cause they hear all of these things with the NFL and its scary, and some of the information out there is scary, so were just trying to educate people so they are informed and so they can hopefully not be so nervous about it."
Parents, athletes and coaches are encouraged to learn about concussions. Experts say concussion recovery is very difficult.
