Bearcats confident in offense despite losing key graduates

The Binghamton University men's lacrosse team is projected to finish 5th in the America East in the preseason poll. The Bearcats return several veterans but the majority of their returning experience is on defense. The Bearcats top three goal scorers from last year, Tucker Nelson, Paul O'Donnell, and JT Hauck all graduated so the offense is a little young.

Despite the youth movement on attack, the senior leaders are confident that scoring goals won't be a problem.

"We lost a few of our big scorers but we have plenty of guys to fill their shoes really well," said George Deignan, Senior Defenseman. "We've seen in practice and preseason that we have guys that can sling the rock and really shoot hard and score. I have no doubt in our offense being able to produce and I have no doubt in our defense being able to stop them."

"Those guys were all great scorers and great players but that's the way lacrosse works and it has to be a next man up type of deal," said Zach Scaduto, Senior Midfielder. "I'm confident, the rest of the offense is confident that we all have good players and we know we can produce just as much as they could and guys in the past before them. So that's really not that big of a worry for us, we're really ready to take on that role and be scorers like they were."

BU opens the season on Saturday at Colgate.
