An Adult-Only Valentine's Date With Animal Courtship

Did you know that penguins mate for life? That was just one of the facts couples learned on their romantic journey through the Ross Park Zoo this Valentine's Day.

It was all part of the zoo's annual "Courtship Tails" event. The adult-only tour gives a twist to Valentine's Day fun by discussing the mating habits of zoo and exotic animals.

"It's very fun, it's very amusing. Our tour guides are very energetic. They love answering questions. They love telling the more risque information and then getting reactions from the visitors. It's a really good time and we enjoy putting this event on every year," said Public Relations Coordinator Rachel Davenport.

Sunday's event helps the zoo to raise more than $2,000 for things like maintenance and upkeep.

The Ross Park Zoo will officially open its doors for the 2016 season in April.
