Four Teenagers Arrested for Robbery, Grand Larceny

By Fox 40 Staff.
Mayor David and Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski held a press conference this afternoon to give an update on a series of robberies and vehicle thefts committed by a group of teenagers.

The incidents happened last week.

There were four arrests, including 16-year-old Aali Tillman for robbery, and 17-year-old James Carmichael for grand larceny, both from Binghamton.

The other arrests were a 15-year-old male from Binghamton charged for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and grand larceny and a 12-year-male of Johnson City, charged with robbery.

The police chief said the arrests were necessary for safety.

"When people can't walk down the street safely without getting attacked by these little punks, we're not going to stand for it," he said.

"We're going to do everything we can to repress it."

Investigators say the teens are responsible for at least five robberies that occurred on the west side of Binghamton, in areas heavily populated by college students.

Four of the victims were SUNY students who were attacked when walking down the street.

Both Tillman and Carmichael were arraigned in city court and remain in custody in the Broome County jail.

The two juvenile arrests have been forwarded to family court.
