Experience spells good fortune for BU softball

On the road to an America East repeat in softball the Binghamton Bearcats certainly have experience on their side. BU returns ten position players that saw significant time last season including eight defensive starters as well as several veteran arms on the pitching staff. It also helps that they all get along.

"We have such a good bond," said Griffin McIver, senior IF/OF. "I think what really helped us in the America East Championship is that we had this unbreakable bond and we did put the team first. We believed in each one of us. I think having so many people come back that we still have that bond and that we still believe in each other and that will just propel us from the preseason into the championship."

"We feel really good about the experience we have out on the field and we've worked really hard over the fall and over the breaks to work on our weaknesses and make them more of our strengths," said Michelle Burrell, head coach. "I think we put in a lot of work that will hopefully show we're better than be were last year."

BU opens the season in California as part of the Mary Nutter Tournament on Friday the 19th.
