Mobile Food Pantry Wheels Into Binghamton

By Kerry Longobucco.
Hungry families got a helping hand Thursday afternoon, when the a mobile food pantry rolled through Binghamton.

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier's truck was stocked with 10,000 pounds of food when it pulled into the parking lot of the First Assembly of God.

Volunteers braved the wind and cold to pass out food to families. One Food Bank employee says hunger is a problem across our entire region -- but especially in the city of Binghamton.

"Binghamton seems to be the worst off, for some reason, there just is so much of a need, and everybody seems to be so thankful when they get the food. i can tell you, it's a very big need," Joseph Aent, of Food Bank of the Southern Tier, said.

Officials say 80 families benefited from the donation.
