At BU, Students Search for Opportunity

On Wednesday more than 2,000 Binghamton University students visited the school's spring job and internship fair.

These students connected with more than 100 businesses, government, and non-profit organizations. Local companies at the fair included Lourdes Hospital, NBT Bank, and The Raymond Corporation.

One student saw this as a great event to check out.

"There's a lot of good opportunity out there in both the public and private sector. I spoke with the Department of Justice and the FBI. also the Department of Taxation. They have full-time and internship opportunities available," said BU senior John Lucksmore.

Meanwhile, employers see BU students as a great group to recruit from.

"We've utilized students at BU for a long time. We've hired co-ops here, we've hired full-time employees here. A couple of the guys with me at the job fair are alums so it's been very successful here at the job fair over the years," said Gene George of the Raymond Corporation.

More than 80 percent of the organizations at today's fair have operations in New York State. More than 40 percent of them are from the Binghamton region.
