Schumer Vows To Fight For More Federal Funding In The Southern Tier
There could be hope for those applying for government funding in The Southern Tier.
Senator Charles Schumer says that of the masses of applications that are sent to the federal Economic Development Administration every year, hundreds go unfunded. This includes many from The Southern Tier. The Senator says he is fighting for new funding for the applications, because job creation is a top priority in our region.
"If we get that increase, a good number of these applications that have gone unfunded but still qualify for funding from the Southern Tier will be funded and it can create hundreds of jobs in our Southern Tier area," says Schumer.
Schumer reports that in the last few years, eight applications out of The Southern Tier were unfunded, while 31 Southern Tier applications received millions in funds.
