By Fox 40 Staff.
A 57-year-old man was hospitalized after an early Thursday morning fire on Binghamton's south side.
According to the Binghamton Fire Department, the fire began in the living room of a home at 14 Earle Dr. Neighbors reported the fire at 6:39 a.m.
Officials say the fire was contained in the living room area and there were no working smoke detectors. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the flames under control.
A man was inside the home at the time of the fire, but waited outside for the Binghamton Fire Department's arrival. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The Binghamton Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
