By Fox 40 News Staff.
A Chenango Fire Captain was honored Saturday for 65 years of active service.

Richard Trebilcock, 83 of Nimmonsburg was honored at the Chenango Fire Company's Annual Dinner, Dance and Award Banquet hosted at the DoubleTree Hilton.

Trebilcock started working at the fire department in 1951 when he was 18. He became an office secretary in 1955, working his way up to chief in 1959. His peers say he contributed a lot throughout the years.

"He spends a lot of time at the firehouse and is there for us to drive our firefighters as regularly as possible. Mr T. has really contributed a lot. I don't think the fire company would be what it is today if not for Mr T.'s contributions throughout the years," says Chenango Fire Dept. Chief David Leader.

Trebilcock is the current Captain of Fire, Police and Driver for the company making his career the longest tenure in the company's history.
