Bearcats happy to have first conference win

The Binghamton University Bearcats snapped a six game losing streak and picked up their first conference win of the season on Sunday on the road against UMass Lowell. Now 5-14 (1-5), the Bearcats can put their minds at a bit more ease and look to turn one win into two, then three, and so on. Tommy Dempsey knows that a 1-5 record in the conference isn't where he wanted to be, but he's happy to no longer have a zero in the win column.

"You don't want those losing streaks to linger," Dempsey said. "There always seems to be a little more pressure when you have a zero in that column to get the first win. Hopefully from a stand point for our mental, as much as anything, getting that first conference win makes everyone feel a little better about it, take that pressure off, and then you can worry about moving forward and getting the next one."

The Bearcats host the UMBC Retrievers on Wednesday. While the Retrievers are 5-16 overall, they have the same 1-5 record in America East play as the Bearcats making it a good chance for BU to string a pair of wins together. Tip-off scheduled for 7:00.
