Jobless Numbers Mixed for Binghamton

By Jason Weinstein.
The unemployment rate in Binghamton has dropped in the past year. And, in a bucking of a recent trend, more people in the area are working.

The jobless rate in December was 5.4 percent. That compares to six percent in December of 2014. But 900 more people were employed in December than a year ago. However the news isn't all good as the Binghamton area lost 1,900 private-sector jobs in the past year.
