Group: NY Tax Burden Tops Country

By Jason Weinstein.
New York has the highest tax burden in the country. This according to the think tank the Tax Foundation.

That group says New Yorkers' state and local tax burden as a percentage of state income is 12.7 percent. That is the highest in the nation. The Tax Foundation is basing that on numbers from fiscal year 2012. That is the latest data available. Governor Cuomo took office in 2011.

Pennsylvania's state and local tax burden as a percentage of income was 10.2 percent, 15th highest in the nation.
