Grant Brings New Planetarium Shows to Roberson

A grant helped widen the horizons of what education is offered at the Roberson Museum and Science Center.

The Binghamton Rotary Club #64 Charities group awarded the museum with a grant of $18,800. Money from this grant helped the museum fund the software and licenses of five new shows for its digital planetarium. These shows display mythical creatures, extreme missions and inventors making dreams into reality.

“Our mission here at Roberson is to provide educational programs for multiple age ranges throughout the community. So having these five new films allows us to reach younger age groups, middle ages, older ages. And not just in science and astronomy, but art, inventions, and history," said Christina Mack, planetarium coordinator at Roberson Museum.

Three of the five new shows are already playing. One, on climate change, will begin playing on Earth Day. For a full schedule of digital planetarium shows, you can visit www.roberson.org.
