By Jason Weinstein. There will be a pre-trial conference in the Cal Harris case Wednesday at 2pm. According to Harris' defense attorney Bruce Barket it will allow lawyers to meet the new judge assigned to the case.
Last December Columbia County Court Judge Richard Mott was appointed to oversee the fourth Cal Harris trial. Schoharie County Court Judge George Bartlett, who presided over the third Harris trial, requested that another judge take on the trial, due to his current workload.
The third trial ended without a verdict. Harris, who is accused of killing his wife Michele on September 11, 2001, was twice convicted in Tioga County court. Both convictions were overturned. The fourth trial is scheduled to begin on March 28th.
