Hundreds Volunteer for Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service
By Alex Howard (twitter:@alexhoward99). The United Way of Broome County, in collaboration with Residence Life of Binghamton University, organized over 300 young people to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service, devoting community service to 23 local charitable and not-for-profit organizations across Broome County.
Among some of the destinations for Residence Life volunteers included the Johnson City Senior Center, where students with backgrounds in computer science helped the elderly with new technology, such as tablets and laptops.
Other students stopped by the Endicott Performing Arts Center on Washington Avenue to help organize costumes for the Center's Wardrobe.
In total, students logged 4 hours of community service each.
