Kids Celebrate MLK at Discovery Center

By Jason Weinstein.
The youngest members of our community celebrated the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

At the Discovery Center in Binghamton kids enjoyed interactive games that helped share different facts about King's life and spread the message of peace. The museum also had a Walk of Fame highlighting others who have followed in King's footsteps.

The Center wanted the kids to stamp out prejudice and bullying by becoming a “Warrior of Justice.”

"They can search around and try to find other activists like Martin Luther (King) who have affected social change and just get them thinking about how they might be able to be a positive influence," said Krystal Jones, Public Programs Coordinator for the Discovery Center.

One game included popping balloons with a negative word such a cruelty. When they destroyed that balloon a positive word appeared.
