JC Man Arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child After Possible OD

By FOX 40 Staff.
A Johnson City man has been arrested for endangering the welfare of a child after Narcan was administered for a heroin overdose.

On Wednesday night, deputies responded to the residence of Eric P. Purdy, 36, for two adults who were unresponsive possibly due to a drug overdose. The residence was also occupied by three children aged nine though thirteen. One of the children called their mother for help when Purdy would not respond to them.

Eric Purdy and another adult male were found unresponsive in separate rooms of the residence. Purdy was awakened without the aid of any medical assistance; however, the other adult male required a dose of Narcan which is used to reverse the effects of heroin.

Purdy is charged with 3 misdemeanor Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Purdy was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Union Court at a later date.
