High School Government Class Goes to State of the State

By Emily Girsch.
The governor's address today was especially exciting for some local students.

The AP government and politics class at Maine-Endwell Senior High School joined about 300 students total at the event in Albany today.

The students said they were very impressed with the governor's speech.

"He knows what he's talking about and he presented himself very well," said senior Daniel Stets.

"He's a very dynamic speaker."

Several of the students also said they liked the plans the governor laid out for the state's infrastructure and for renewable energy.

"I learned about the infrastructure program which I liked, especially for upstate," said senior Nicholas Pham.

"We need to rebuild highways and roadways, things like that, as well as a plan to go 50 percent solar. I think solar power is a good idea in general."

All 28 students from the class went on the optional trip, leaving early this morning and returning after 7 tonight.
