Binghamton Says It's Ready for Snow

By Jason Weinstein.
A rare sight Tuesday - snow. But we all know plenty more is likely on the way before Winter is out.

The City of Binghamton says it is well prepared for any storms on the way, with enough salt reserves to handle six major snow storms. The city has used 560 tons of salt to this point of the Winter season. Last Winter Binghamton used 2,500 tons of salt.

"We're in great shape. Our equipment has been checked and re-checked. We've had some people out practicing their routes during the day with other vehicles. We feel adequately prepared," said Terry Kellogg, Binghamton Commissioner of Public Works.

Officials gave drivers a reminder today: once the snow starts to fly make sure to yield to vehicles with flashing yellow lights trying to clear the streets.
