Medieval Play Gets A New York Twist

By Faith Jessie.
A revival of a play that is rarely done is coming to Endicott Sunday.

Savoyards Musical Theatre Ltd. will preform "Princess Ida" at the Endicott Preforming Arts Center for one revival show.

The group from Ithaca, originally put the production together to celebrate Cornell's Sesquicentennial or 150th year anniversary.

The 3 act operetta was originally set in the late 1800's with a medieval touch. However the group decided to give it their own personal New York touch.

"We've transplanted the action of the opera to 1865 western New York, right here in the Southern Tier. Places like Buffalo, Aurora where Well's College is, we've given it a real local flavor," says producer and actress, Karen Dumont.

You can catch the show tomorrow at the Endicott Preforming Arts Center at 3:00pm. Tickets are on sale at www.endicottarts.com or on site. You can learn more about the Savoyards Theatre at www.savoyardsithaca.com
