Bearcats looking to raise offense to level of defense

The BU Bearcats fell to Stony Brook 62-52 in the America East Conference opener on Wednesday. It wasn't so much the loss that was frustrating as it was the way they lost - staying in the game and limiting the league's best offense to just 62 points (25 in the first half) but failing to hit shots for long stretches on offense.

BU out-rebounded the Seawolves, but shot just 36.5% from the floor including 16.7% from 3-point range. If the offense can catch up to the defense, the Bearcats should be in good shape.

"We're not necessarily a man team, a zone team, a press team... we mix our defenses well and I think we've been able to keep a lot of teams off balance with that approach," Tommy Dempsey said. "If the offense comes around, I think this team really has a chance to develop over the season. The one thing that is a non-negotiable is the defense end and we do that well. So, if the offense comes around we can get this thing turned around."

Binghamton travels to UNH on Saturday.
