Bhattacharjee introduced as new BU soccer coach

Binghamton University officially introduced Neel Bhattacharjee as the new head coach of the women's soccer team. Bhattacharjee replaces Sarah McClellan who was dismissed after a 3-12-2 record and a ninth place finish in the America East in her eighth season.

Most recently an assistant coach and in charge of recruiting at Syracuse and Boston College for the last seven years, Bhattacharjee sees Binghamton as a place he can thrive and have a chance at winning.

"Really when I looked at Binghamton there were three questions that came to mind," he said. "Number one, is this a university I believe in, number two, is this a place I can recruit to, and number three is this a place I can win? And unequivocally without question the answer was a big yes to all three of them. This is a place where I can recruit great student athletes here and that we can, on an annual position, be competing for America East Championships and NCAA Tournaments."

He expects the Bearcats to be competitive and fighting for a conference title in the near future saying that this isn't a "five or six year plan." Recruiting is his specialty and says he has deep connections all over the northeast and will work tirelessly to bring in top rated talent to the Southern Tier.

"I'm a much better coach when I have players scoring goals for me. I've found that to be my experience," he joked.
