A Johnson City resident arrived home on Wednesday to discover someone they knew burglarizing their home.

Johnson City Police Department arrested Matthew J. Neer, age 33, of Binghamton on December 30th for Felony Burglary.

Neer is accused of entering a Village residence at about 4:00pm. According to police, he was attempting to steal items when the residents arrived home. The resident knew Neer and contacted the police.

Police say Neer then fled through the back door.

Officers later made phone contact with Neer who stated he was in Binghamton. Binghamton Police assisted by responding to where Neer was until a Johnson City Officer arrived and took Neer into custody.
