By Jason Weinstein. In an effort to make New York the first state in the country to enact a $15 minimum wage for all workers, Governor Cuomo announced today the SUNY system will raise the minimum wage for more than 28,000 workers.
The increase will mirror the phased-in schedule for fast food and State workers established last year. That schedule will result in the $15 minimum wage on December 31st, 2018. The Governor's office says the move will effect almost 3,000 workers in the Southern Tier.
