Phillips Files Paperwork for Congressional Run

By Jason Weinstein.
Endwell Republican George Phillips has filed a statement of candidacy for the 22nd Congressional District with the Federal Election Commission.

Phillips, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2008 and 2010, said today his campaign raised $100,000 in less than a week leading up to the filing deadline. He is looking to replace three-term Congressman Richard Hanna, who announced he will retire at the end of this term.

Republican State Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney has already announced her candidacy. She ran unsuccessfully against Hanna in a 2014 primary.

Phillips is the Dean of Students at Seton Catholic High School in Binghamton and an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Broome.
