100 MPH Pursuit Ends in Crash and Arrest

Police made a New Year's Day arrest of a New Jersey man after an over 100 mph pursuit on Route 81.

On Friday around 9:40 p.m., New York State Police observed Trevon I. Clement, 24, of Newark, NJ driving nearly 100 mph on Route 81 near exit 7 in the Town of Barker. Clement refused to stop after being told to pull over.

According to police, Clement continued to flee at around 127 mph driving onto State Route 17 westbound before crashing into a guide and stopping.

Clement has been charged with the misdemeanor of unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and numerous other traffic violations after a pursuit. He was arraigned at the Town of Chenango court and then remanded to the Broome County jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond. His next court date is pending.
