STOP-DWI Program Active in Region on New Year's Eve and Beyond

It is a good idea to find a designated driver if you go out. One of the many reasons for this is the Broome County STOP-DWI Program. It is in effect until January 3rd.

Fox 40 had a number of traffic incidents reported Thursday night. Traffic incidents are, of course, what the authorities want to avoid.

This program has set up several checkpoints and different patrols throughout the region. The STOP-DWI Program also stated in a release that during the 2013 holiday season, almost a third of the traffic fatalities were due to drunk-drivers.

These efforts to crack down on drunk driving are supported with funding from both the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
