Former NFL Player Shows School Pride with Golden Football

A former NFL player with local roots shared his story and a special gift with the Union-Endicott School District.

On Wednesday, U-E Class of '96 graduate Isaiah Kacyvenski visited his alma mater. He talked about how using a positive attitude to conquer hardships, such as growing up in poverty, led him to success. He said he wants to send a message of hope, and emphasize the importance of determination, to students.

Kacyvenski also presented the school with a golden NFL football. The ball goes along with this year’s 50th Super Bowl, known as the “Golden Super Bowl." His presentation was part of the NFL’s High School Honor Roll campaign. The goal is to honor high schools and communities that have contributed to Super Bowl history. Kacyvenski played for the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in 2006.

U-E officials say there’s a chance the school could see more golden footballs. Super Bowl champions, and brothers, Arthur and Chandler Jones also graduated from the school.
