JC Middle School Food Drive Helps Over Winter Break

By Jason Weinstein.
Winter vacation can be a welcome break from school for kids. But for some it can be a time wondering where their next meal will come from.

Tuesday students and staff at Johnson City Middle School packed up 70 boxes of food to give to needy families to help them get through the holiday vacation. Folks at the school have been collecting food to give away over the past three weeks.

"We try to provide them with enough to sustain themselves throughout the break. We know that our students come to school every day, they get breakfast and they get lunch. But a lot of our families need that help for those meals over the holiday break," said Johnson City Middle School Principal Joe Guccia.

Guccia says the drive also received donations from the Choconut Center Community Church, The Johnson City Fire Department, and Rogers Trucking.
