Second Annual Blood Drive Planned for Fallen Trooper

The New York State Police and American Red Cross are hosting the second annual blood drive in memory of Trooper Christopher Skinner on Wednesday, December 30.

“Trooper Christopher Skinner served the people of New York with honor. Trooper Skinner was working to make our roadways safer when he was tragically taken from us,” said Major Donald Faughnan, New York State Police. “It is important that no one forget Chris, what he stood for, and what so many of our troopers, officers and deputies do for us each and every day.”

Chris Skinner was struck and killed on May 29, 2014 while issuing a traffic ticket on Interstate 81 between Exits 6 and 7 between Chenango Bridge and Castle Creek. A bridge was named in his honor in August of this year.

“Through events like this blood drive, we celebrate Trooper Skinner’s service and commitment to New Yorkers and to the New York State Police,” said Major Faughnan.

The Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, December 30 from noon – 5:00 p.m. at the New York State Police Barracks at 84 Crescent Dr. Kirkwood, NY.
