Tips for a Healthy Holiday Season

By Jason Weinstein.
Eating healthy can be tough this time of year, between holiday parties and big family feasts.

So how do you avoid the temptations many of us will face? One registered dietician says go for the fruit and veggie trays at parties. fill at least half of your plate with that produce. Then, watch sugary drinks. and watch your alcohol intake. Lowering your inhibitions can ruin your willpower.

"One of things I tell people to do before they go to an office party or family Christmas party is you should never go when you're super hungry. Always try to eat something first that you know is healthy and is going to fill you up," said Julie Lee, a registered dietician at Lourdes Hospital.

Lee says there's no reason for you to wait for your new year's resolution to kick in to exercise. Staying active can be a great way to get through the Holidays.
