Audit: State Not Doing Enough to Oversee Sex Offenders

By Jason Weinstein.
New York is not doing enough to oversee it's most dangerous sex offenders.
This according to an audit by State Comptroller Tom Dinapoli.

The audit found the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision often failed to make the minimum number of required monthly contacts and didn't perform mandated curfew checks.

The audit examined the Department's regional offices, including those in Elmira and Syracuse. The audit recommends the department take steps to improve documentation, compliance, and response to electronic monitoring alerts.
