The Owego-Apalachin Board of Education has started its search for a new superintendent.

Tuesday night the board held its first workshop by screening various resumes in a process that will likely take months to find the right candidate. This through a series of rigorous reviews, interviews and approvals. These workshops will be open to the public.

"The board wanted someone who has academic experience, and focus, so we want someone who can focus on elevating the school and district from where we are now, to achieve higher results." said David Barton, the President of the Owego-Apalachin Board of Education.

The new superintendent is expected to be selected by next April.
