A Wreath To Honor Fallen Veterans For Christmas

By Fox 40 News Staff.
Saturday was Wreaths Across America Day and Owego's Tioga County Veterans Memorial held their 9th annual wreath laying ceremony earlier to honor the veterans.

Participants laid down evergreen wreaths on every veteran's grave as well as at the entrance of Tioga County Veterans Memorial.

This mission was to remember the fallen, to honor those who served and to teach people the value of freedom.

"The holidays are a sad time for a lot of Veterans. This is something that will just make the Veterans feel good. I think to see that they are not forgotten... the evergreen is a sign of eternal life, so it's like eternally we are thanking them," said Danielle Ingram, President of Chapter 9 Veterans of Modern Warfare.

This was a part of a nationwide ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, and 1,000 participating locations including 400 national cemeteries across the United States.
