The community came together today in support of a woman who fell victim to the October 19th fire on Floral Avenue in Johnson City.

Binghamton's Social Club was packed with people who came out to support Jessica Baxter, who sustained burns to over 70% of her body in the house fire.

Supporters made donations to participate in the benefit that included a baked ziti dinner, raffles, karaoke, and live music.

"A lot of people throughout the community has helped you know cause this was a tragic thing that went on and no family, no human being should have to go through that," said, Jacque Hall.

This comes after Baxter escaped an arson which took the lives of two young children. The mother of these children, Erica Kurtz also escaped the fire but sustained serious injuries as well. Kurtz was discharged from hospital.

Dwight Burton, Baxter's ex-boyfriend is accused of purposefully starting the fire. He was indicted on several charges including arson, murder and attempted murder.

All proceeds from this benefit will assist Baxter with her medical expenses. She is currently being treated in a Syracuse University burn unit.
