Johnson City Lights on the Carousel Opens Tonight
Friday, December 4, 2015 11:04 PM EST
For the people of Johnson City, Christmas just got a little closer.
The carousel at C. Fred Johnson Park is open for holiday festivities.
The park is usually closed during the winter months, but opening it for the holiday season became a tradition six years ago.
"Ever since we started this we tend to get a lot of riders," said Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie.
"We got close to 5 thousand riders last year in the three weekends. I don't know what number we're at tonight but we we're close to 300 earlier within the first hour and a half."
The event is especially exciting for children, who get to meet santa clause and tell him what they want for Christmas.
The carousel will be open for the next two weekends, on Friday and Saturday nights.
