B-Sens continue to struggle in 5-1 loss to Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators fell 5-1 to the Syracuse Crunch Friday night in the Onondaga County War Memorial Arena.

Adam Erne opened the scoring for the Crunch with his first goal of the year a little over eight minutes into the first period. Mike Angelidis doubled the lead 4:30 later with his second marker of the year. The B-Sens headed to the first intermission trailing 2-0 with the shots tied at seven a piece.

Following a scoreless second period, Matt Taormina pushed the host’s lead to 3-0 at the 1:06 mark of the final period. Jeff Tambellini added another tally to the score a little over seven minutes later with his team-leading seventh goal of the year. Matt Puempel put the B-Sens on the board with just over eight minutes remaining in the game off assists from Ryan Dzingel and Chris Carlisle. The final score was pushed to 5-1 following a Crunch goal with 30 seconds remaining.

B-Sens’ goalie Matt O’Connor finished with 24 saves in the losing effort while Kristers Gudlevskis gained his sixth win of the season with 28 saves.

The B-Sens are back home tomorrow, December 5, when they host the St. John’s IceCaps at 7:05p.m. for their annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
