State, Local Leaders To Announce Increase In Drug Treatment Beds

By Jason Weinstein.
On Monday state and local leaders will announce new substance use disorder treatment beds at Fairview Recovery Services in Binghamton.

This as many providers and addicts say there aren't enough treatment beds available to handle all those seeking help. The County has said it is working to create a number of beds to institute an Angel Program at the Broome County Sheriff's office. Under such a program an addict could walk in without fear of arrest and ask for treatment.

No word yet on if the increased number of beds to be announced Monday would be part of that potential program. A spokesperson for the county said these new beds will be available to those in the community who need them.
