Lockheed Martin Lands Big Deal With US Navy

The US Navy has issued a Lockheed Martin led industry team the balance of funding of $279 million for the construction of the future USS Cooperstown, a sister ship of the USS freedom which is pictured here.

We're told that the Cooperstown, which is named after the city in New York, will be a freedom-class littoral combat ship.

Of course, Lockheed Martin employs a number of workers in Owego. However, the news of this deal with the navy came from its Bethesda, Maryland headquarters.
