By Alex Howard (twitter:@alexhoward99).
While Black Friday kicks off the Holiday Shopping Season, many people prefer to avoid the crowds by taking advantage of online deals offered on Cyber Monday, which is estimated to generate about $3 billion in sales in one day, and over $100 billion throughout the holiday season.

The Better Business Bureau suggests following these 10 tips when shopping online.
- Protect your computer and smart device through antivirus and protective software.
- Make sure to do all of your shopping on a home, secure Wifi Network
- Shop only on Trustworthy, well known, name brand websites
- Protect your personal Information when online, and avoid providing external websites with your personal information
- Know the advertiser and make sure that the website you're on is not a fake. The best way to do this is to look for https in the beginning of the URL
- Beware of Phishing and other internet scams designed to steal your personal information
- Pay with a credit card. This allows you to dispute the charges if you don't receive an item that you ordered
- Keep documentation in order in the form of a receipt, tracking or order number
- Know your rights. You have an expectation of receiving your order within 30 days. Otherwise, you can demand a refund.
