Black Friday Starts Tonight at Area Stores

It's one of the biggest shopping days of the year, and it seems to be starting earlier and earlier.

The leftovers aren't even cold yet and folks are already heading to the stores in hopes of scoring some big deals.

According to a recent survey by business consulting firm Deloitte, Americans plan to spend almost $400 over the course of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

That's almost a 25 percent increase from the same survey done last year.

Black friday also surpassed Cyber Monday as the biggest online shopping day during the holiday weekend.

As usual, the items people tend to go after are the electronic items.

"I think the electronics honestly are the big deals," said shopper Angela Bradley.

"The other little silly things, not a big deal, but the electronics usually are."

The Best Buy on Vestal Parkway opened its doors at 5 p.m. tonight, but many shoppers were standing in line long before then.

The most sought after item? The TVs.

"We just bought a little TV," said shopper Chad Cooley.

"We came up looking for a bigger TV, but the one we kinda wanted was gone so we just bought a little one."
