Suspect in Fatal JC Arson Indicted

The man accused of setting a fire on Floral Avenue in Johnson City that killed two young boys has been indicted by a Broome County grand jury.

38-year-old Dwight Burton was indicted on charges of Arson in the First Degree, Three Counts of Murder in the First Degree, two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, and one count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt.

The blaze which happened in the early morning hours of October 19th killed four-year-old Joshua Maxwell and three-year-old Michael Maxwell. Police say Burton targeted his ex-girlfriend Jessica Baxter in the arson. Baxter and Erika Kurtz, the mother of the two children killed, were seriously injured in the fire.
