State Police Warn of Counterfeit $100 Bill
Friday, November 20, 2015 1:26 PM EST
The New York State Police are warning of counterfeit $100 bills that are being used in stores in Otsego and Delaware County.
Merchants in the area have received numerous counterfeit $100 bills since October 30, 2015.
The trend has been to make a small purchase and pay with the counterfeit bill in order to receive as close to one hundred dollars in authentic US currency.
Troopers are asking local businesses to be alert of this when receiving $100 bills for payments of merchandise and services.
In the event that suspicious persons are observed attempting to make payment with $100 bills please contact your local police department immediately.
