UPDATE: Afton School District Lockout Enters Second Day

Afton Central School District administrators extended it's lockout to a second day on Thursday.

This comes as two Afton teenagers whose disappearance precipitated the lockout continue to be missing.

Superintendent Betty Briggs said the decision to call for a lockout Wednesday was precautionary. Briggs said the school received unconfirmed information two high school students ran away Tuesday night and were rumored to have weapons. She said Thursday a lockout going forward remains possible if the teens aren't found.

A lockout means no one is allowed to leave or enter district buildings without an escort.
