Local Officials Join Statewide Campaign for Infrastructure Investment
Local officials are calling for what they say is Upstate's fair piece of the State's Infrastructure Budget.
Wednesday afternoon they joined the statewide Rebuild New York Now campaign calling for fair funding between capital plans of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or MTA, and the NYS Department of Transportation's roads and bridges in the 2016-17 Executive Budget.
Governor Cuomo recently set to provide more than $8 billion in additional funding to the MTA to help fund its next 5-year capital plan.
Cuomo's 2015 budget called for $1 billion for bridges and roads statewide. The $1.5 billion upstate revitalization initiative is also meant, in part, to address infrastructure upstate according to Cuomo's budget proposal.
