A Shoe box That Is Making Children Smile For Christmas

By Fox 40 News Staff.
The Holiday season is right around the corner and Operation Christmas Child has an opportunity for you to jump start your holiday giving.

Southern Tier residents can take part in Operation Christmas Child, a program that sends gift-filled shoe boxes to children in need all around the world.

Starting tomorrow, Calvary Community Church in Johnson City will serve as an official collection center.

Shoe boxes filled with a variety of gifts ranging from toys to school supplies will be collected and shipped to more than 100 countries.

This is the 12th year the Southern Tier has participated but the efforts led by Samaritan's Purse began in 1993. And since 1993 Operation Christmas Child has delivered over 124 million gift filled shoe boxes.

You can join the giving by bringing gifts to the church that will be accepting donations until November 23.
